City Creates Website for Updates on Tree Lane

Don’t get too excited, it doesn’t have a lot of information yet. Here’s what I know.

Today we got an email from the Homeless Service Consortium that says the following:

Hello HSC Members-

In order to provide additional support services at Tree Lane Apartments, United Way of Dane County (UWDC) and the City of Madison have both increased funding in 2019. On February 26, 2019 Common Council approved amending the City’s 2019 Operating Budget as detailed in the email sent to Homeless Service Consortium on February 8th. The next step to ensure long term services is for Heartland Housing and Community Development Division (CDD) to conduct a Request For Proposals for the ongoing onsite services team. The anticipated timeline for the RFP for services at Tree Lane Apartments will be as follows:

March 2019 Develop RFP criteria with stakeholders
April 2019 Post RFP
May 2019 Select support provider(s)
June 2019 Contract with provider(s)
July 2019 Staff hired/trained (if necessary)
Aug 2019 Hand off between Road Home and new provider(s)

The UWDC funding process for 2019 will begin in a week with the release of pre-proposal information. Applicants will need to fill out an online form to be invited to submit a full proposal later this Spring. CDD and UWDC are working closely to align the two selection processes that will allow the provider selected through CDD’s RFP time to adequately respond in the Spring to UWDC’s application process.

On March 5, 2019 Common Council approved amending the 2019 Operating Budget to provide funding to Heartland Housing to assist with additional staffing needs at the front desk during evening and weekend hours. Community Development Division, Heartland Housing and the interim service provider, The Road Home, are developing plans to increase the staffing presence for the security of the building and the surrounding area.

Lastly, to provide more communication to the community, the City of Madison has created a temporary website to distribute information. The purpose of this website is to provide updates from the City of Madison specifically related to Tree Lane Apartments. The Mayor and Alder Skidmore are committed to ensuring the community is well informed. The City hopes that communication shared on this website will achieve that goal and will update the site as needed. The website is www.cityofmadison.com/treelanehousing
