DETAILED VERSION

The City of Madison has a website for the budget.  It has tons of information!  It has the agency requests that originally went to the Mayor, it has the Mayor’s proposed budget and it has a not so great timeline as its lacking quite a few details.

As you can see, the finance committee is meeting Monday and Tuesday this week to hear the agency presentations on their budgets.  The 27th will be when they consider the budget amendments of alders.  Those operating budget amendments will be due the Wednesday October  22nd at noon before that meeting and will be available to the public, Friday, October 24th at 1pm the Friday before the meeting.  The process goes real quick, for the alders and the public!  You have discover the amendments over the weekend and show up at the meeting on Monday.

Alders can all do amendments for the capital or operating budgetby Wednesday, November 5th at noon, and they will be publlshed that Friday on Nov 7th at 1pm.  The council will then vote on those amendments on the following Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Sometimes they get done on the first night, and that is the night they usually take testimony.

There is a much better timeline in legistar.
