2 Day Round Up

Due to technical difficulties yesterday . . . here is a 2 day round up!

OVERTURE MISINFORMATION
The council approved a committee on Tuesday to REVIEW the Overture plan, but the Cap Times made the same mistake that others have made, that the committee with CREATE the plan. At least, that is not what the council called for or what the Mayor said at the meeting. (See post later today).

ANOTHER FALL OUT OF THE BAD ECONOMY
Young kids without choices join the military. Great. NOT! Maybe I’m just bitter cuz both my niece and nephew see this as an answer for their futures.

CITY REJECTS “TRAFFIC STUDY” OF RAIL
But with Peter Theron do a “informational picket” instead? What’s really galling is, as usual, the conservatives ignore and distort the facts of the impacts of rail. Barry Orton calls it a silly stunt. Even Morrissey explains why this is not based in reality.

AUGUST 14TH HOMELESS HAVE PLACE TO GO
Last year ASM let students stay at Union South, this year, a Bethel Lutheran will give it a shot, which is great, because not everyone who lives downtown and is stuck with the August 14th/15th dilemna is a students.

WSJ DEFENDS USE OF WORDS “ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT” AS OPPOSED TO “UNDOCUMENTED WORKER”
Any surprise there? At least they note the inaccuracy as explained by the ACLU.

KEEP THE PARKING ATTENDANTS FOR SAFETY REASONS!
Or, because we miss people?

DON”T BAN FAST FOOD . . .
Ban the drive through window as a run around?

ZACH BRANDON FINDS MISSING TRAIN FILES!
Aw, don’t you miss Zach . . .

SCHOOL EARLY RELEASE
An elaborate attempt for teachers to skip out early? Seriously, did the WSJ really argue that? I’d expect them to jump all over how this impacts employers, but then I realized, they probably don’t care how it impacts employees, because the employers they advocate for won’t accommodate their workers.

RTA REFERENDUM THIS FALL?
The Cap Times advocates for it, and it makes sense except for one little thing . . . what the hell would we be voting for? A half cent tax for what? Without the details, I’d vote against it, and I support the RTA and I suspect others would too . . . its too soon. I wish, however, the RTA was working harder to get to the plan, instead of wasting time reviewing a whole bunch of information that people appointed to the RTA should already know.

OTHER EVENTS
Don’t forget to check the calendar for other events around town, instead of posting them in my blog, I’ve been putting them on this calendar. Click on the item to find the information that would normally appear here.
