17 County Board Members Endorse McDonell as County Exec.

17 of 37, given there are 5 other candidates, and some tough choices, that’s kind of impressive.

County Board Members Endorse McDonell

Supervisors Express Faith in “Proven Progressive Leader”

Seventeen of the 37 members of the Dane County Board of Supervisors today announced their support of Scott McDonell for County Executive.

“Scott McDonell is a proven progressive leader, exactly who we need to make the difficult decisions in times of tight county and state budgets,” said First Vice-Chair John Hendrick, who represents Madison’s East Side. “In the many years we’ve worked together, I’ve come to trust him as a man who’s always looking out for the most vulnerable citizens in our community.”

In addition to Hendrick, the following County Supervisors have endorsed McDonell:

Dane County Sup. Carousel Bayrd
Dane County Sup. Sharon Corrigan
Dane County Sup. and Town of Perry Chair Patrick Downing
Dane Counry Sup. Denise Duranczyk
Dane County Sup. Analiese Eicher
Dane County Sup. Chuck Erickson
Dane County Sup. Dianne Hesselbein
Dane County Sup. Jeremy Levin
Dane County Sup. Patrick Miles
Dane County Sup. Kyle Richmond
Dane County Sup. Paul Rusk
Dane County Sup. Melissa Sargent
Dane County Sup. Robin Schmidt
Dane County Sup. Sheila Stubbs
Dane County Sup. Barb Vedder
Dane County Sup. Matt Veldran

“The State Legislature follows the lead of Dane County, and that’s in large part thanks to Scott McDonell’s leadership,” said Hesselbein, who represents Madison’s West Side and portions of Middleton. “He introduced the state’s first domestic partner registry and got it passed. He and Kathleen Falk worked together to ban phosphorus and keep our lakes clean. The state learned from us, and from Scott, how to take care of people and the things they care about.”

“I am proud to have earned the trust of the people I work with on the County Board,” said McDonell. “They know county government inside and out, and I am honored and humbled that they have faith in my ability to lead it.”
