Beyond Just the Issues

I think that sometimes people view politics as something that exists purely on a left-to-right axis. Hit the middle of the political spectrum and you win. But I think that is an oversimplification. Note this article by Bruce Murphy: Ten points where Gov. Walker is vulnerable. Now, without debating the merits of these 10 points […]

Pro-Tip for Certain Mary Burke Supporters

Posted October 24th, 2013 @ 8:08 AM by

Hammering away at people who are skeptical of Mary Burke is not actually helpful. No candidate is entitled to votes, votes should be earned. If you find yourself in a situation in which someone who shares your political beliefs expresses skepticism or even some hostility to Mary Burke, you could try to use persuasion. For […]

A Small Sliver of Hope

There’s a new Wisconsin poll out from Public Policy Polling: Mixed News for Walker: Walker is up 47/43 against Peter Barca, 48/42 against Mary Burke, 47/41 against Kathleen Vinehout, and 47/40 against Tom Nelson. He leads by 5-10 points with independents in all four match ups, and takes an average of 12% of the Democratic […]

In case you missed it WisconsinEye has thrown a fit because Planned Parenthood used a 5 second clip out of a 39 minute session in an advertisement. Jon Henkes sent out this press release Standing Up to Early Salvo in 2014 Campaign Season Here’s the background if you’re interested: Cable network WisconsinEye lashes out at […]

So Does Mary Burke Have a Campaign Team or Not?

Posted August 29th, 2013 @ 7:07 AM by

Because this article by Matthew DeFour states: Burke has said she is considering entering the race but hasn’t yet formed a campaign. She spent the past couple of months meeting with key Democrats and business leaders around the state to assess a possible run. But Daniel Bice, a reporter for JSOnline says: @forwardourmotto @garagemahal65 Key: […]

The Actual Problem with Brett Hulsey

Posted August 25th, 2013 @ 1:58 PM by

Brett Hulsey, the Democratic assemblyperson for District 78 has come under some rather ridiculous attacks lately (Here’s one example). Yes, Mr. Hulsey has behaved in a bizarre fashion on more than one occasion. However, that’s not necessarily a good reason to hope that Mr. Hulsey’s time in the state assembly comes to an end in […]

There has been a lot of rough news for Governor Scott Walker on the job creation front, here’s just the latest from the LaCrosse Tribune: Politfact: Walker’s job claims fall short. But apparently there are some jobs being created… Oh but here’s a job: Scott Walker loyalist Cindy Archer starts high-paying job Monday Of course, […]

What if the Wisconsin Republicans are right about something?

Posted August 6th, 2013 @ 8:08 AM by

A shocking possibility, I know….check this Facebook ad I spotted: If you were to click on it, you’d go to a page which includes this YouTube ad, amongst other things: I really hope the Republicans aren’t right on the nominee being decided behind the scenes. An open and spirited Democratic primary would best serve the […]

This basically sums up what the Capitol Police department is doing under Governor Walker’s regime:
In the process of arresting a citizen for exercising his rights to free speech, the Capitol Police knock his flag to the ground and step on it. Of course, when an individual or organization has so little respect for democratic norms like free speech, it’s not especially surprising that they don’t seem to treat the US flag with the appropriate respect.

So When Can We Panic About the Governor’s Race?

Posted July 24th, 2013 @ 8:08 AM by

Scott Walker had a really good record of fundraising during this last reporting period: Gov. Scott Walker raised $3.5 million in the first six months of the year as he prepares for seeking re-election in 2014, his campaign reported Monday. He has 2.2 million in the bank. So how much has his non-announced Democratic challenger […]
